Artist Liga Kalnina(03.01.1990.) is born in Riga, Latvia.
Painter in her mission to make world more beautiful, thoughtful and to create paintings pleasant for eyes, mind and soul.
Artist ideas interact with time. Artist Liga Kalnina is interested in depth and clarity of expression and exploration of monumental shape, space, scale, and speed. Her goal in art is to create story of this time, capturing timeless values. Artist interests is realistically based -landscapes, architecture, portraits, still life's, collages, assemblages and experiments with painting possibilities.
2017-2019 artist was working on project capturing her hometown Ķemeri and it's National Park architecture. As the result was personal exhibition "Aurum" 2022 and since 2023 september three large scale paintings was gifted to Ķemeri School interior as official gift for younger generations cultural and artistic encouragement and enrichment.
Since 2022 artist explored art of "scent" with drawings and paintings of different brand perfume bottles in ratio 1:1 combined with artistic author techniqe self made frames. This have become more serius and developing in show coming soon.
Her painter life begin with early childhood watercolor exercise.
Professional education was gained graduating Art science master in Art Academy of Latvia(2017),Pedagogy master(2015) in University of Latvia, Art teachers bachelor(2013)in University of Latvia, Art school of Jurmala(2009).
Exhibition experience since 2005 in Jurmala city art spaces, personal shows in 2009, 2022, more than 45 group exhibitions participant till now.
Have written scientific article in early children artistic education (2016), gained art pedagogy practice in Austria (2015).
Member of Artist Union of Latvia since 2018.
Her work is in collection of Latvia Artist Union museum collection, private collections, Ķemeri School permanent collection.
Winner of Art competitions and exhibition viewer prices (I live next to sea 2005, 2008, Art Day's 2018, Marina biennale 2019).
Had art residency in Zvartava castle 2019.
Participant of online residency in India in Art for change project supporting mental health on autumn 2020.
Participant of postcard art project “Postcard perspectives” in Oklahoma, USA (2020, 2021).
Finalist of Young Painter prize 2020.
Regular participant of Grata prize charity exhibition in Museum LV gallery in Riga, Latvia (since 2019).
Participant of landscape painting exhibitions in dedicated to Latvian landscape artist Jazeps Pigoznis, MARINA biennale ( since 2019), Latvia independence exhibitions YES/ Independence in Bulduri exhibition house and online.
Regular participant of Autumn and Art days exhibitions in Artist Union of Latvia (since 2017).
Now living in Latvia -capital city Riga.
